Bill Hidell and Tony Blaas recently spent a week in Liberia to unveil conceptual drawings for the new Maye Howell Community Center. Bill and Tony were part of a US delegation that included Thomas Valentine, Vice President YMCA of USA International; Glen Gunderson, President and CEO YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities; Fred Friswold, Representative/Volunteer YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities; Mick Johnson, Representative/Volunteer YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities.

Hidell and Associates Architects recently completed a major renovaiton to the Polk Wisdom Branch Library for Dallas Pubilc Library system. This renovaiton internalized the transformation, focusing on flexibility and organization of spaces over increased size. . A small glass box expansion with random patterns of colored glass defines the new entry as a "focal point" and begins the reorganization of spaces.

Bill Hidell travels to Liberia, West Africa to gather information and begin a feasibility study and analysis for designing a new YMCA of Monfovia, a multisport complex for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and future multipurpose YMCA community centers. These would incorporate the Four Centers of Hope. "Providing the required infrastructure needed for the various yought programs to be successful will be a challenge, but highly rewarding." said Mr. Hidell.
